Triathlon Cymru’s First Welsh National Aquabike Championship

Published:

We are thrilled to announce a special new addition to our 2024 events calendar, the Welsh National Aquabike Championship organised by Always Aim High Events. This exciting opportunity is open to all, but it also marks the first Welsh National Aquabike Championship, giving Triathlon Cymru members the chance to compete for national titles!

Taking place on Sunday 1st September, the Bala Aquabike event kicks off with a water start in the iconic Llyn Tegid, with the stunning Aran Fawddwy mountain providing a breathtaking backdrop. Following an out-and-back swim, participants will transition to a 38km bike course on fully closed roads. Despite the mountainous surroundings, the bike route is fast and flat, perfect for setting a personal best or for beginners looking for a smooth ride. The route runs along the western shore of the lake, through the southern lowlands of Eryri, before looping back to Bala.

Triathlon Cymru’s CEO, Catherine Roberts, said,

A multisport event in Bala has been an important event on the calendar in Wales. This year we are delighted that Always Aim High Events have agreed to include an Aquabike event within the programme. This Aquabike will be the first Welsh National Aquabike Championship and an opportunity for Triathlon Cymru members to become national champions in the event.

Aquabike has grown in popularity as an event in its own right, but also for race preparation and training. I hope that many athletes will be able to build this into their programme

Entries for the Aquabike are now open, find out more & enter here.
